The group's professor, Marc Juanpera, was invited to the University of Santiago de Chile by Professor Andrea Espinoza to give a talk on the use and impact of quantitative methods of operational research in the social distribution of food. Specifically, we have presented the problems we are solving in optimising the composition of baskets from a social entity to families, for a more nutritious and equitable coverage; and the definition of affordable, nutritious diets with a low environmental impact for vulnerable groups. We hope that this visit will be the beginning of a close collaboration to promote the reduction of food insecurity at all levels.
