Amaia Lusa, new director of ETSEIB

Professor Amaia Lusa Garcia started on March 12th the mandate at the head of the School of Industrial Engineering of Barcelona (ETSEIB) of the Polytechnic University of Catalonia - BarcelonaTech (UPC). With the candidacy 'Futur ETSEIB', Amaia Lusa won the elections to the management of the School, by imposing 64.9% of the weighted votes on the candidacy of Joan Gabriel Bergas, professor of the Department of Electrical Engineering, who obtained 35.1%.

The act of taking office was attended by Daniel Crespo, rector of the UPC; Enric Fossas, director of the School since December 2021, as well as the general secretary of the University, Ana B. Cortinas, who has read the appointment.

Among the objectives of this new stage, the team is committed to continue with the comprehensive review of the curricula to ensure the updating and coordination of the contents; to work to transform the ETSEIB into a modern, welcoming, safe and functional space, and to strengthen collaboration and strategic alliances with institutions, companies, academic networks, alumni and other entities, such as the College and the Association of Industrial Engineers of Catalonia.

It also aims to lead the integration of the principles of sustainability and social commitment in all degrees, preparing the engineers of the future to address global challenges, as well as promoting quality research and interdisciplinary collaboration and supporting activities and associations that contribute to the comprehensive training of students.
