César Augusto Henao Botero

César Henao Botero is an Industrial Engineer from the Universidad Nacional de Colombia and holds a Master's degree and a PhD in Engineering Sciences from the Department of Transport and Logistics Engineering of the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. His research focuses on two main areas: (i) Industrial Engineering, where he investigates the mathematical modelling and solution of complex problems related to task and shift scheduling of multifunctional personnel, taking into account uncertainty in key modelling parameters. His work considers various flexible working arrangements, as well as employee preferences and diversity, aiming to contribute to SDG 8 (decent work and economic growth) and 9 (industry, innovation and infrastructure); and (ii) Transport Engineering, where he focuses on issues such as active and sustainable mobility, public transport and freight transport, aiming to contribute to SDG 10 (reducing inequalities) and 11 (sustainable cities and communities). He currently works as a professor and researcher in the Department of Industrial Engineering at the Universidad del Norte (Colombia). He is also Coordinator of the Master's and Doctoral Programmes in Industrial Engineering at the same institution. He is also a member of the TRANVIA Research Group and Director of the Productivity and Competitiveness Research Group of the Department of Industrial Engineering at the Universidad del Norte. Both groups are classified in the highest category by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation of Colombia. He has been Principal Investigator and Co-Investigator in multiple research projects with external funding sources and is author and co-author of numerous book chapters and research articles published in prestigious journals of the Journal Citation Report (e.g., IJPE, CAIE, JORS, MBE, TR-PA, Transport Reviews).
