Description

The healthcare sector is under severe stress at many levels after years of budget and staff reductions, as well as the COVID pandemic. In this context, the specialised scientific literature highlights the gap that still exists between the needs of healthcare managers and research into process design and optimisation. The aim of this line of research is to develop decision support tools (optimisation, simulation, etc.) to respond to the logistical and production needs of healthcare centres. To date, work has been carried out on:

1. Improving the planning of home visits by nursing staff.
2. Organising the working time of an anaesthesiology department
3. Analysing occupational health and safety data to characterise accidents and identify risk factors that can cause incidents. Currently, the group wants to promote this line and is initiating contacts with hospitals to identify new lines of work (e.g. Hospital de Vendrell).
