DOPS-UPC participates in the international EURO HOpe 2026 conference
Oct 19, 2026
Laia Ferrer-Martí and Marc Juanpera Gallel participated in EURO HOpe 2026, organized by the Zero Hunger Lab at Tilburg University, where Marc presented research on stochastic optimization for food banks.
The DOPS-UPC research group participated in the 10th EURO HOpe Mini Conference, held in Tilburg (the Netherlands) on 15–16 October 2026. Organized by the Zero Hunger Lab at Tilburg University, this international conference brings together researchers working on the application of operations research to humanitarian challenges.
The group's participation aligns with its research line on resilient agrifood systems, which focuses on developing optimization tools to improve food planning and distribution, particularly in the context of social assistance.
In this context, Laia Ferrer-Martí and Marc Juanpera Gallel attended the conference, where Marc Juanpera Gallel presented the work “From uncertain Donations to reliable Commitments: A Stochastic Optimization Framework for Food Banks”, focused on developing a stochastic optimization model to support food bank planning under uncertainty in donations and facilitate more reliable distribution commitments to social assistance organizations.
Participation in EURO HOpe 2026 strengthens DOPS-UPC's collaboration with the Zero Hunger Lab at Tilburg University and its contribution to developing optimization-based solutions for more efficient, resilient, and equitable food distribution systems.
See you at the next conference!
